Welcome Fom the Founding Publisher
Welcome to LyricalTimes.Com. It is an extreme pleasure and honor to present the official website for Lyrical Times, the worldâs first themed magazine with a focus on lyricists, lyrics, and life! This site will feature poetry, poet profiles, commentary, upcoming events, and more.
Days after the actual print version of Lyrical Times hit the streets of Brooklyn and Atlanta in August, 2002, e-mails started coming in. Readers have expressed sheer excitement and gratitude for this groundbreaking publication. Writers have been inspired and motivated to continue on with their precious words in a time where flow takes a backseat to fluff. I too, am excited and express gratitude for this jewel that I have been given to usher in.
I am a poet and independent publisher who wants to get the word out about my individual efforts and talent, but more importantly, I want to help raise the stakes of artist appreciation on a whole. I am truly humbled to be able to present the fine works of the many talented lyricists that I have come to know and those who I have yet to be acquainted with. It is an honor.
I have been writing lyrics since I was six years old and now, some twenty years later, I am writing lyrics with more awareness and insight. And I know that my writing is divinely inspired; many times I just let my hands write or fingers type the words of wisdom and insight that come through. This is a very educative and exciting process. Many times I go back and read my own work to be inspired and informed. I tell you, it is a blessing to be used in this way. I canât boast that Iâve studied linguistics or graduated with degrees in writing and journalism, and if you ask me to freestyle I might trip on my words. But what I can say is that Iâve got lyrics to share and look forward to the many fresh ones that will come through. This journey of being used in this way is a very amazing one because it causes one to acknowledge a force that supercedes our everyday practical realities. It's not mechanical, which is the way many of us live; it's very spiritual.
I know that other writers share this same journey and I look forward to those divine words. How can one speak without a voice? I feel this is precisely the predicament that we have been in; the spirit has been muted. All the answers, enlightenment, and inspiration are there for the taking but if we are turned off to our inner selves then all we have is external reality. Many of us live hoping some material or physical existence can foster something spiritual, rather than letting the spirit manifest our physical reality. Well, Lyrical Times is a true testament to spirit being made manifest physically. Poetry begins from withinâwhether it is a few words or pages long, and before eyes or ears are ever laid on its offerings, it exists as a product of the lyricistsâ insides. Sometimes the writer doesnât even know what lies therein, but the physical manifestation of the writing brings this to light.
What a wonderful thing we have discovered! It is the ultimate in inspiration and education. Thank you for your time and participation as we go on this journeyâthis lyrical journey. May we all be entertained and grow and grow some more for years to come.
